How beneficial is it to make a vow
Spiritual practice, worship, and religious practices—performing them with pure devotion and a true heart—yield supernatural results. However, when true faith, ignorance of religious scriptures, and blind tradition take over, the phenomenon of "vows" arises. When a person sees their efforts failing, they despair and resort to "vows." The practice of vows is established by ignorant, uncultured, and narrow-minded members of society. When God is humanized, other human vices are also imposed on him along with his ninefold devotion. That is, God assumes a human form and makes him perform the ninefold devotion. But when a human feels that God is behaving like a human without reason, what harm is there in bribing him to get one's work done?
God's kingdom is everywhere in the universe. That is why devotees seek divine mercy to fulfill their goals, alleviate their troubles, and fulfill other desires. However, humans must insist on achieving their goals. The reason is that their karma hinders this. Consider, the Lord of the universe, why does He need a handful of sweets, a silver crown, or anything else? Yet, He accepts even stale flowers offered with love by a devotee. In the words of Lord Krishna, "I accept whatever a person gives me with devotion, be it leaves, flowers, fruits, or water." Conversely, love is often lacking when making a wish. A devotee who loves God never makes a wish. An ignorant devotee, out of fear, prays to ten gods for the fulfillment of a single wish. Even if the wish is accomplished, there is no guarantee that these wishes will be fulfilled. Once the wish is accomplished, the vow is forgotten.
In fact, one must maintain decorum when making a wish. If one prays to a single deity and has complete devotion towards that deity, then that wish will be fulfilled.It is meaningful. The laws of nature cannot be changed for a task that can be completely easy. If a vow is made from the heart for such a task, it knowingly or unknowingly enters the inner self and then becomes a part of the universal mind. As a result, despite many adverse circumstances, those tasks are easily completed and successful.
If a student prays to God for passing with a special grade, the deity will encourage him to study harder. As a result, his morale and enthusiasm will increase. This will automatically fulfill his vow. However, if the mother of a dull and foolish student prays to God with the desire to pass, even Lord Brahma himself will be unable to do anything. Therefore, if a vow is made with devotion, keeping in mind the laws of nature, the limits of human power, consistency, and the surrounding environment, it can certainly be successful.
