Why are five green pillars installed in the wedding pavilion

The number five holds immense significance in religious scriptures. The five elements are the foundation of creation. The scriptures also prescribe the daily worship of the five deities, who are the masters of these five elements. The four directions and the central part, i.e., the center, also add up to five.

Both banana and bamboo are accepted as pillars. The banana tree is considered the abode of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is the protector of the people. To obtain the banana fruit, it is necessary to relocate. This also indicates that a daughter will succeed only after marriage in another home.

Bamboo is called 'Vansh' in Sanskrit. Marriage is an important stage in the growth of the family!

Bamboo grows forever once established in one place. It has a tremendous ability to maintain its existence under adverse circumstances. Such joys and sorrows keep coming and going in the householder's life; hope should not be abandoned in adversity.  These pillars are laden with green leaves and sometimes even fruits. They signify happiness and success.
